The vineyard that lends its name to the winery is located in Valmores, in a small valley in the Alcarria de Madrid, next to Nuevo Baztán. The Marquis of Goyeneche, one of Carlos II’s ministers, founded the town of Nuevo Baztán. A great visionary, Goyeneche created a multi-faceted enterprise: agriculture, livestock, industry and winemaking. The Marquis created Nuevo Baztán as an element of town planning that was ahead of its time. Under the Palace and its surrounding houses he created an intricate network of pipes that connected them to the winery, current property of the Calvo González-Vallina family, who took up the winemaking tradition again. José Antonio Calvo is the current owner.
